Firm Description:
Geometric provides comprehensive financial planning for executives and partners in management consulting, finance and other demanding career. We specialize in serving partners at top-tier management consulting firms (Bain, BCG, and McKinsey).
Launched in 2015, Geometric is a fast-growing, independent, fully-remote, 100% employee-owned firm with 32 people on our team (including 7 Wealth Advisors) and with clients nationwide. Unlike most firms that cater to those in or near retirement, Geometric was designed specifically for (very) high-earners who are accumulating wealth at an accelerated pace and whose financial pictures are becoming increasingly complex. Our clients have rare analytical abilities and high professional expectations. Most are between 35- and 45-years-old, and many have young children.

Job Description:
We are seeking an IT & Security Manager to join our Business Operations team. This person will own our core business infrastructure and cybersecurity program, and serve as a technical resource for our industry-specific software (e.g eMoney, Practifi, Orion)
The IT & Security Manager will manage, secure, and optimize our remote IT environment, lead critical infrastructure projects—including a near-term migration from Google Workspace to Microsoft 365—and serve as the primary liaison for all IT vendors and our Managed Service Provider (“MSP”).
Responsibilities:
Ownership of business infrastructure
Technical Resource for industry-specific software (e.g. eMoney, Practifi, Orion)
Ownership of cybersecurity program and policies
Career Path:
Geometric’s growth means that the nature and complexity of our IT environment is constantly evolving and expanding. As the firm scales, we anticipate this person will become more focused on high level strategy (and move away from day-to-day support). It is reasonable to expect this person could grow into a Director of IT & Security or, for a candidate who drives significant innovation in our data and client technology, a Chief Technology Officer.
This role reports to our Chief Operating Officer, Julie Higgins, who will support you in your growth and development.
Qualifications:
Location:
Anywhere within the continental U.S. We strive to find the best people, and we use technology (currently Slack, Zoom, Google Workspace, etc.) that allows us to operate as a team regardless of location. (See ‘Flexible work schedule’ below for our typical working hours.)
Compensation:
The annual base salary range for this role is $135,000 to $160,000. Placement within this range depends on experience and qualifications.
We wrap all of an employee’s cash compensation into one higher-than-market base salary, rather than carve a portion out for bonuses.
We offer top-tier compensation packages that enable us to attract and retain the best people, and we use industry benchmarking surveys to ensure this remains the case.
This is a full-time W-2 position.
Benefits:
Culture:
Our team is friendly and informal. We strive to uphold our four core values and we look for others who value these same principles.
Diverse Perspectives:
We believe that a team performs better when its members bring diverse perspectives. We strive to provide an inclusive environment for those of any race, religion, ethnic origin, gender identity or expression, age, physical disability, sexual orientation, marital status, parental status, military service, medical history, or any other status. All are welcome and supported here.
Typical Interview/Evaluation Process:
Hiring the right people is the most important thing that we do. As a result, our hiring process may be more rigorous than the average company’s. The typical process is described below, though it is always subject to change based on individual circumstances.
Application Method:
Along with your resume, please include a cover letter that explains your interest in this position. In the cover letter, please let us know why managing a remote IT environment for an RIA appeals to you. This exercise is meant to both show us your writing skills and help us get to know you.

- Financial Planning. We help our clients define their financial goals and we build comprehensive net worth projections to ensure that they are on track to achieve them, along with scenario analyses to understand the implications of career and lifestyle choices. This process also includes proactively optimizing the client’s insurance coverage, estate planning, debt management, employee benefits, college savings, charitable giving, and any other material financial decision.
- Portfolio Management. Our firm’s investment philosophy is central to our identity: we believe that markets are efficient, and therefore we don’t attempt to pick individual securities or time the market. Instead, we invest in low-cost, broadly-diversified, tax-efficient portfolios of passively-managed mutual funds and ETFs (such as those offered by Dimensional Fund Advisors or Vanguard), and we continuously manage portfolios in an effort to squeeze out every possible basis point from tax location, tax loss harvesting, rebalancing, etc.
- Tax Services. Our in-house, fully-integrated tax team prepares and files our clients’ tax returns and provides ongoing tax planning and consultation.

- Maintain full strategic and operational ownership of the firm’s business infrastructure. Identify enhancements, configure settings, and ensure these tools maximize team productivity.
- Lead large scale IT projects, the most pressing of which is a migration from Google Workspace to Microsoft 365, planned for the end of 2026. This role will lead the end-to-end migration of email, file storage, and collaboration tools (working closely with our MSP and Business Operations team to do so).
- Architect and deploy efficiency and security features. In the near term this will focus on Mobile Device Management (Intune), single sign-on (Azure AD/Entra ID), and an internal company intranet (SharePoint).
- Evaluate how AI (e.g., Microsoft Copilot) should integrate into our existing workflows to drive efficiency. You will also own and maintain our internal AI acceptable use policy, ensuring it evolves alongside changing technology and compliance requirements.
- Develop technical training to strengthen the technical proficiency of our team; create and maintain a knowledge base of internal IT processes and "how-to" guides.
Technical Resource for industry-specific software (e.g. eMoney, Practifi, Orion)
- Support our Wealth Advisors and client service teams with the evaluation and implementation of IT solutions that drive operational efficiencies, enhance cybersecurity, and improve the client or employee experience. You may act as the project lead—organizing pilots, scheduling vendor demos, gathering feedback, and ensuring decision-making stays on track.
- Support efforts to better leverage and connect our data across our tech stack of disparate systems; this may involve leveraging API tools, automation platforms, or AI-assisted coding that enable secure data flow and eliminate manual entry.
- Stay current on wealth management technology trends
Ownership of cybersecurity program and policies
- Collaborate closely with our MSP to manage and enhance our robust security program tailored to a fully remote environment.
- Develop and enforce IT policies regarding data protection, device management, and access controls
- Proactively identify security vulnerabilities and lead initiatives to mitigate risks
- Act as the primary liaison for our MSP and ensure we are maximizing the value of this partnership
- Manage and maintain the vetting process for new and existing technology vendors. Collaborate with our Chief Compliance Officer to ensure all service providers adhere to the firm’s data protection policies and SEC-mandated incident response protocols.
- Administer and manage user access, renewals, licenses and invoices for all IT software and platforms (both business infrastructure and industry specific software)
- Serve as the "Tier 1" internal help desk for employees, troubleshooting hardware and software issues before escalating to the MSP or tech vendor
- Manage the technical setup for new hires (hardware provisioning, account creation) and secure offboarding for departing employees.

Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree
- 5+ years of experience in IT Management, Systems Administration, or a senior support role
- Experience in Financial Services or Wealth Management required (you must have familiarity with SEC technology compliance requirements). Experience at a planning-centric Registered Investment Advisor (RIA) preferred.
- Experience administering a Microsoft 365 environment including Microsoft Intune and Azure
- Demonstrated ability to independently manage IT projects with clear timelines, communication plans, trainings, etc.
- Strong understanding of cybersecurity best practices for remote workforces (Zero Trust principles, VPNs, endpoint protection, etc.).
- Previous experience managing external IT vendors or working within an MSP environment.
- Demonstrated interest or experience in building and maintaining a cloud data environment and using modern tools (APIs, low-code automation, or AI) to solve IT and data integration challenges, is preferred
- Strong written and verbal communication skills; an ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
- Airtight reliability. Always doing what you say you will do, when you said you would do it. When you take ownership of a task in or project, everyone else on the team feels comfortable knowing that it is taken care of and/or you will ask for input when you need it.
- Fun to work with and enjoyable to be around.

Benefits:
- Flexible work schedule. We work hard and trust that all team members will do the same, so we operate with a flexible work environment – when family or important life obligations call, we expect you to answer! That said, we expect that everyone will typically be available during working hours (roughly 8:30 CT – 5:00 CT), which is necessary for us to operate as a team, and that everyone will have a private, quiet workspace during those hours. We have no defined vacation or sick policy and trust that everyone will take what they need.
- Health insurance. You will have the option to participate in our company-sponsored medical plan, with Geometric paying for at least 2/3 of the premiums. Geometric also offers dental, vision, and long-term disability benefits.
- 401(k). Including 5% company match with immediate vesting.
- Family leave. Paid parental leave (either (a) 12 weeks full-time or (b) 8 weeks full-time + 8 weeks half-time) after welcoming biological or adopted children. This applies to both mothers and fathers.
- Professional development sponsorship. The firm values life-long learning and provides an annual stipend to full-time employees to pursue relevant professional development opportunities including obtaining credentials, attending conferences, and taking continuing education classes.
- Portfolio management. For those who want it, Geometric will manage your investment portfolio at no charge using the same platform that we use for clients. (Note that this does not include broader, comprehensive financial planning or tax services.)
- Tech/home office needs. Geometric will supply work-related technology (hardware and software) as well as a stipend for furnishings or other items needed to make your home office comfortable, productive, and secure.
- Wellness Wednesdays. Our team chooses not to work for a portion of every Wednesday afternoon. Instead, we each do something fun - ideally something outdoors and physical. We believe this makes us healthier, happier, and ultimately more productive
- Sabbaticals. Geometric offers “no work allowed,” fully-paid, five-week sabbaticals after seven years with the firm (and every five years thereafter).
Culture:
Our team is friendly and informal. We strive to uphold our four core values and we look for others who value these same principles.
- Excellence: We are service-oriented, and we put our clients’ interests ahead of our own. We take pride in the excellence of our team, our service, our analyses, and our deliverables.
- Overcommunication: We value open, honest, and thoughtful communication and take extra time to ensure that our communications are clear.
- Continuous Improvement: We embrace the fact that our firm – and each of us individually – will always be a work-in-progress. There is no end state; only a journey of getting better.
- Support and Balance: We choose to work with people who are positive, supportive, and kind. We value our own mental and physical wellness, and we care about the wellness of our colleagues.
